Goliath Warlord, adherent to the old ways of the Kaanar clan. Gil Ga’Dek stands 7’ 4” tall, weighing in at over 420lbs, with long auburn hair and beard, this kilt-wearing man-mountain swings a great-sword as easily as if it were a child’s plaything.

Dek har’Drimm was singled out at an early age by his village elders to be trained in the art of war, eventually becoming a warlord of junior status ,and thus was renamed Gil Jh’Dek. (“Gil” denoting status of leader or advisor, “Jh’ “denoting one of junior status. Few ever attained the senior status “Ga’ ” reserved usually for generals, chiefs, or kings).

Dek was born of the Kaanar clan, one of the few clans that still revered the old traditions of the Goliath. His father Bak had fought 40 years ago in the War, and had eventually chosen to retire near the human settlement of Brindol. Visiting his father as often as he could, he learned a respect for the smaller folk, and learned to deal differently, more diplomatically, with them than he would one of his own kind.

Dek had fought in a number of conflicts against various aggressive groups, mainly orcs and other raiders. He has extensive experience in leading troops into battle against other troops, and has almost died in several conflicts. His greatest personal triumph was the eventual slaying of his long time opponent and rival Vaxkor. So long had they pursued each other, they had gained a mutual respect for each others abilities. When Dek had finally personally slain him, he followed the customs of his people; taking the head of his respected opponent and fashioning it into a trophy; a drinking cup, covered with stretched calves leather and lined with silver. Drinking from the cup, Dek believes he draws energy and experience from his vanquished foe, and also respects and honors the abilities that his former opponent possessed.

Gil Jh’Dek was asked by his clan to go to Brindol to meet with another goliath, Yamis (a cleric of Pelor, and one who has forsaken the traditional ways of the goliath)and try to assist Yamis with a matter of importance. Elders say they had forseen an impending event, a dark cloud on the horizon, and that this could spell great tragedy for all in the region. Dek could not turn down this request from his Elders, and also, he was curious; what kind of goliath could forsake the traditions of his own people? Dek has decided to take this as an opportunity to learn more of the world, to see it and enjoy it in a new way (while there was still time), and see where his ancestors would guide him next.

Having adventured with the members of “The Green Dawn” for several months, Dek has grown to respect and admire his brothers in battle, learning from them as much as he tries to in turn advise. Recently, Dek was honored by one of the councilmen of Overlook who referred to him as “Gil Ga’Dek”, granting him the higher status Dek had long strove to attain. Though such an honor and title is normally granted by his elders, with the goliath people scattered all across the Vale, who else could grant him such an honor, but those whom he served, and his comrades in arms? Dek is now motivated all the more to live up to the great honor given him, and fight for the freedom of the peopple of the Vale.
